Employee appreciation day is a great way to boost employee morale. According to Forbes, employee appreciation helps staff members feel good about their work and gives them a desire to stay at a company longer. As a manager, you need to make sure your employees feel appreciated for the work they do, especially as remote work becomes more normal. While in-person employee appreciation days are far more common, there are plenty of ideas for a virtual employee appreciation day as well.

Virtual Events

The first step to planning a successful virtual event is to make sure all your employees can attend. Send out emails with your desired event date to ensure you can celebrate as a whole team.

To encourage engagement, ask each team member to say a few words about their position in the company and how they feel to be a part of the team. If your employees aren’t huge fans of speaking in front of multiple people, virtually or not, ask them to share a simple fact about themselves—like their favorite podcast!

Another way to spark engagement is to ask employees to introduce their pets virtually. This is a fun way to encourage conversation and team bonding.

Gift Cards and Cash

If you’re stressed about setting a specific time for all your employees to get together, you can always look into giving the team gift cards to show your appreciation. Tango Card has a wide variety of gift card options—from AMC and Cinemark Theatres to Disney and Nintendo. Do you know your employees’ favorite restaurants? Tango Card probably offers a gift card to them! If you aren’t quite sure where they typically frequent, you can always offer prepaid gift cards. Rewarding employees in different ways shows your employees that they are appreciated.

You can also let your employees choose their own rewards. Digital rewards are a great way to let them choose their rewards.  Tango Card’s Reward Link product is the fastest and easiest way to send a choice of gift cards. These rewards are delivered instantly through email, and the Reward Link works on any device! This option is free to use and can remove a lot of the guesswork associated with the type of gifts employees may want to receive.

Even though the workplace has been undergoing transitions from in-person to remote, you still have many opportunities to show your employees how much you appreciate them. Whether you decide to create a virtual event for your team to get together or you turn to an employee rewards program, you can boost employee morale and let them know how valuable they are to your company.
