From a simple code to investment projects: Sergey Tokarev shares his personal stories

At the Cyprus IT forum, Sergey Tokarev, the founder of technology company Roosh, spoke about his career path and projects he invests in. He explained why curiosity is a way to new horizons and professional achievements that comprise hundred IT startups.
According to the speaker, the main personality trait that an entrepreneur should develop in themselves is curiosity. This is a driving force for accepting new challenges and achieving greater heights. Tokarev says, he is fond of communication with different people and learning something new from them. “Everything that falls into my hands arouses a childish interest in me,” the speaker underlines.
During the speech, Tokarev shared a story of how he created his first website and made his first step into the IT industry. In 1998, a magazine with an HTM code caught his eye. It was the code of a “Home page” that he rewrote in a notepad. Later, he started to research the codes of other websites with curiosity. He jumped into coding, and this helped him to develop a growth mindset.
Sergey Tokarev started his career as an employee. Then he jumped to a manager position. The next step was to start his first company. This preceded investment projects that became his main passion.
The speaker says, he likes to develop product companies and motivate others for self-development. He believes, his mission is to show others how to scale projects, grow numbers, and generally go to the next level.
There are two statements that Tokarev takes as a guide to action. Both of them belong to rocket construction engineer Igor Khanin: “The cell lives while it divides” and “What will remain in history after you when you die? Money? Who needs them!"
These statements lead the investor to the thought that he has to share his knowledge, experience, and, of course, money with others. This is his mission in life. And this is what motivates him to invest in business and charity projects. This is the way to make a difference in this world.
Sergey Tokarev follows his principles when selecting startups, he calls it the “philosophy of angel investing.” The investor gives preferences to those projects in which he is interested to become a mentor for the team, to assist them and grow together.
“An investor becomes a kind of guardian angel for his startups, who protects, guides, solves problems, helps become more efficient, acquire the necessary contacts,” explains Sergey Tokarev.
Such an approach is a key to windfall-profits, huge coverage, high popularity, and everything else that characterizes successful startups.
