Paris, December 1 , 2022 – Women represent 49% of the working population, but only 12% manage an SME or an ETI. While their representation evolves in start-ups or at the head of large groups, what do we know about the leaders of SMEs and ETIs? Bpifrance Le Lab, in partnership with the Femmes Chefs d'Entreprises network, conducted a survey of 417 women managers and 743 managers of SMEs with more than 10 employees and ETIs. This study offers a comparative analysis between managers and managers, as well as a detailed analysis of the profile of women at the head of these companies today.Female entrepreneurship is often associated with business creation, with its corollary the start-up or VSE in personal or business services. The leaders of SMEs and ETIs are thus the big ones forgotten. Who could spontaneously cite several names of these bosses? If these women share the same taste for entrepreneurship and the same desire for the sustainable development of their business as their male peers, making them above all business leaders without distinction of gender, the differences between women and men are many.
“This study offers a photograph of the women at the head of French SMEs and ETIs today and highlights the plurality of their profiles, at the same time as it questions the representation of female entrepreneurship. says Elise Tissier, director of Bpifrance Le Lab.
