Needing a digital permitting and licensing solution, Town of Plymouth, MA, officials saw first-hand how a partnership with OpenGov, the leader in modern cloud software for our nation’s cities, was a success for other municipalities in the region, and they decided to follow suite.

A building official from the Town, located south of Boston in the region known as the South Shore, had struggled in a past job with a digital permitting and licensing software deployment. After having done much of the deployment on his own, he vowed never to take the same path. So, when he searched for an online solution at his new job in Plymouth, he realized OpenGov Citizen Services was the right fit.

Starting fresh with new data in a handful of departments, the Town will have the ability to design forms and workflows for services such as building permits, business licenses, and more. After designing workflows, the team will be able to see each permit and license application make its way electronically from intake through reviews and on to approvals. When needed, staff can easily pull reports that show metrics on the number of applications received across permit types, project costs across departments, and total revenue. With automated workflows and easy-to-use reports, staff will reduce their workload and get back to tackling high-priority initiatives. Plus, Town of Plymouth customers will have higher satisfaction with an easy-to-use online portal and faster approvals.

The Town of Plymouth joins more than 1,100 public sector organizations leveraging OpenGov to revolutionize work processes with cloud-based software designed specifically for the needs of government.
