A lot of industries in this day and age have resorted to manufacturing their products with robots. Robots tend to cover up a lot more work than manual laborers too. Industries that want to compete effectively will go for manufacturing with robots to reduce their expenses. When industries use manual laborers, they incur costs such as wages, insurance covers, and halts on work because human beings need breaks in between their working schedules. These breaks allow human beings to go for a call of nature, eat or rest. This is unlike the use of robots in manufacturing industrial robots because robots are programmed machines that do not require breaks and can work for 24/7 hours.
4 Disadvantages of Manufacturing with Robots
Numerous disadvantages come with manufacturing with robots. This article will highlight four disadvantages of manufacturing with robots.

Restricted only to their programming
As aforementioned in the introduction of this article, robots are programmed machines. This means that for robots to operate, they need to be fed with programs by expertise that understand their operations.
Without these programs, robots would hardly work. This then is a disadvantage because robots are restricted to their programming. Without the programs, the robots would be deemed useless.
Perform fewer tasks
The advancement of technology has led people to start relying on the use of manufacturing with robots. This however should not be the ultimate goal. The reason for this is because robots can only do that which they are tasked to do.
Unlike human beings, robots cannot multitask. If an industry needs a robot for another thing, they would have to set up new instructions on the robot if they are capable of doing that other job. In instances where a robot cannot do two tasks or the much an industry would wish to be done for, they would have to purchase another robot that can perform that other task.
Emotionless
The disadvantage of a robot having no emotions comes in especially with the expert that feeds them with instructions or the human beings around the workplace. These robots unlike human beings cannot have one on one conversations as human beings do.
Robots are machines, this means that even in instances where there is a security guard who guards the area where a robot is stationed and they get bored or low, these security guards would not converse with the robot. Other instances where the emotionless disadvantage of robots comes in is when a human being gets injured, the robots would not stop working and empathize with the one who got injured.

Expensive
Robots are expensive to buy hence will bring in the aspect of class divides. This means that because they are expensive for the industry to get, these industries will end up increasing the prices of their products.
An increase in the product price will hence allow only those who can afford the products to be the industry’s customers. The industry’s target audience will hence be wealthy people and this will mean that the poor cannot be customers of an industry. Such discrepancies will bring in class divides.
Another disadvantage that comes with manufacturing products with robots is that they incur expensive faults when they break down. New robots would normally run for a relatively long period before breaking down but the moment they do, the fault is an expensive one to repair.
This is brought about especially because robots are tasked with a heavy workload. They will hence be lifting heavy loads from one part to another or packaging items that have heavyweight. These expensive faults and repairs will require industries to pay for them so that they can go back to working as usual.
They could however be instances when industries insure their robots. These insurance covers come with premium charges which will necessitate an industry to pay up for them.
Conclusion
Industries that wish to incorporate a robot in the manufacturing of their industrial products need to understand that there are shortcomings that come with the use of robots. These industries should understand the good and bad that come with manufacturing with robots before they decide on taking them up in their operations.
