Peru once again tops the list of The 50 Best Restaurants in Latin America

  • Maido, Central and Osso restaurants are among the top ten in this year's ranking, which includes up to eleven Peruvian restaurants.


Eleven of the 50 best restaurants in Latin America are Peruvian and are located in Lima, a city that reaffirms its leadership as the gastronomic capital of the region. In the eighth edition of the annual list, The Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants also showed that three of them appear in the top ten: (1) Maido, (2) Central and (3) Osso.

Unlike in previous years, the ceremony was held online and the list was announced to an audience made up of chefs, journalists, restaurateurs and gastronomes, who were from different countries.

The eleven Peruvian restaurants reflect the most traditional and disruptive trends of the always-active Peruvian cuisine and reward some of the protagonists of contemporary Peruvian gastronomy, such as Virgilio Martínez (Central), Mitsuharu Tsumura (Maido), José del Castillo (Isolina ), Rafael Osterling (Rafael), Jaime Pesaque (Mayta) or Gastón Acurio (Astrid & Gastón), among others.

Likewise, the following recognitions were added: Art of Hospitality 2020 Award for Central; 2020 Highest New Entry Award for Merit, and 2020 Highest Climber Award for Mayta.

Also recently, the bar “Carnaval de Lima” is ranked number 21 in the ranking of “the World’s 50 Best Bars 2020”, which rewards the best bars around the world. At Carnaval, Aarón Díaz, the founder and his team uses the term ‘Conceptual Cocktails’ (Cocteleria Conceptual). and “Pisco” is their main recipe, they make surprising aperitifs based on their experiences.
