We all agree that Christian Bale is among the best performers to have ever appeared in a motion picture. His renowned performances in films like American Psycho, The Prestige, The Dark Knight trilogy, etc. have earned him a reputation. Bale has, however, played some other fantastic roles in his career that few people are aware of. Here are some of the top underappreciated Christian Bale films for you to watch this summer, in that vein.- Vice (2018)
Many people had very high hopes for this film. The ones you anticipate the most to produce, however, never do, as is frequently the case. The movie was not horrible; rather, it fell short of our expectations. But Christian Bale didn't let down. Instead, as Dick Chaney in "Vice," Bale gave one of his best performances of his career, and for that reason alone, you must see the film.
- American Psycho (2000)
Patrick Bateman journeys through a network of attractive people in the late 1980s who are able to accept others who are similar to themselves in a sense of superiority. He comes to the realisation that all of these masks are really only covers for the true person or thing beneath, which is inherently non-human. He is made up of a human-like shell that only contains greed and disgust: greed for what others might have and contempt for anyone who doesn't live up to his standards. This American Psycho analysis would clear all the questions in your mind about the plot and the ending.
- Public Enemies (2009)
It's challenging to claim that "Public Enemies" is an undervalued film, but then, no one considers Bale while discussing the film. Everyone immediately thinks of Johnny Depp's brilliant performance, but Bale was also fantastic as usual. If at all possible, see the movie right away if you haven't already. You'll undoubtedly like the journey!
- I’m Not There (2007)
Every art enthusiast should see "I'm Not There." This film is a voyage through Bob Dylan's life or a biopic. In his portrayal of Jack, one of the late music legend's six personas, Bale takes us on a journey through Dylan's folkie period. Bale performs admirably, as to be expected, but that's by no means the only reason to see this film.
- Hostiles (2017)
The "Hostiles," directed and written by Scott J. Cooper, is the tale of an 1890s soldier who learns that Native Americans are still humans despite their differences from him. Once again, Bale excels in the starring part, convincing you that despite his past animosity for Native Americans, he has somehow come to like them. Oh, and Rosamund Pike also does a fantastic job.
- Out of The Furnace (2013)
This movie is for you if you're looking for a revenge thriller with a working-class man's story. One of the most undervalued movies Bale has ever starred in is "Out of the Furnace," another movie written and directed by Scott Cooper. Russell, played by Bale, is a felon on the hunt for his missing brother Rodney, portrayed by Casey Affleck. Should we elaborate further?
- Equilibrium (2002)
If you thought The Matrix was entertaining, wait until you watch "Equilibrium." This science fiction thriller, drama, and action film tell the tale of a grim future in which all emotions are forbidden. As you might have guessed, Bale is the one who will work to alter that. Although it's hardly a classic, the film is enjoyable.
All we can conclude by saying is, "We hope you enjoy these flicks!"
