How do you care for your home air conditioner?

How often do you have to clean your air conditioner?

Washing and cleaning the internal block at home: sequence


Before you get to the cleaning of the inner block of the split system, you have to drain it since condensate might accumulate in its interior during the work. Switch your air conditioner into the ventilation regimen and leave it turned on for 30-40 minutes, letting the liquid evaporate. After that, unplug it from the electric feed. To prevent the dust fly around in the air, before you start cleaning, cover the air conditioner with a dust-catching bag.   1. Take off the upper panel of the inner block and take out the air filter from the socket.

  2. Remove the upper dust layer with a vacuum cleaner and then process the hard-to-reach places with a toothbrush.

  3. After, wipe the surfaces with a sponge slightly soaked in the warm soapy water. Then let it dry in the open air, preventing any direct sunlight to fall onto it.

  4. If there is any bacterial filter installed, wash it first with soapy water and let it dry before you process it with antiseptic.

  5. Clean the radiator, not touching the metal plates. Then process the plates with aerosol for cleaning air conditioners and let them dry.

  6. Apply the disinfecting spray onto the heat exchanger and let it be for 20-30 minutes. Then wipe the worm pipe with a soft cloth.

  7. To prevent the growth of mold, process the radiator and heat exchanger with aerosol anti-fungi remedies. The processing time is about 5 minutes.

  8. Disconnect the drainage pipe, which connects the outer block with the inner, and blow the drainage duct with a vacuum cleaner. Heavy clogs are eliminated by washing them underwater pressure using air conditioner liquid or weak vinegar solution. Before you plug in back in again, make sure to dry the pipe for not less than 1 hour in the open air.

  9. After you will have dried all the design elements, connect the drainage pipe to the inner block, install the bacterial filter and air filter.

  10. Return the upper panel in its place and turn on the maximal cooling mode of the air conditioner for 15-20 minutes to make all dirty water come out. Before you run your system like that, make sure to have a big bucket around – the puddle on the floor can be huge!
