When it comes to shopping, we can safely say that over the past 10 years, Norway has made great progress. Its eCommerce became one of the most advanced when comparing with other Scandinavian countries. This provides new opportunities for both the owners of various businesses and buyers: businesses receive more new customers every month, and buyers get access to a wider selection of goods, more pleasant prices and the possibility to make useful purchases thanks to various interesting offers and promotions from online stores.

The global pandemic has made its own adjustments in people's lives, and Norway is no exception. More people prefer online shopping. No matter what they want to buy, eCommerce in Norway increased by 18% in 2020.  According to Promocodius, the demand for promo codes has increased by 20% over the past year. Furthermore, more than 30% of purchases are made using various promotional offers. The growth will only continue over the next few years.

The purchasing behavior of Norwegians is also gradually changing. In 2021, it's safe to say that over 90% of people are confidently buying online. The popularity of online shopping became higher due to the fact that about 80% of the population of this country lives in urban areas, so there is no problem with the fast delivery of goods.

Among the most interesting facts concerning eCommerce in Norway in 2021, we can single out the following:

  • According to preliminary data, the average annual spending on online shopping in 2021 will grow by 30% compared to 2020.

  • In 2021, men are more active in buying online. While the number of women has remained approximately the same among customers of various online stores, the number of men has increased significantly over the past year. Experts predict that this trend will continue in the coming years.

  • The most popular payment method is still a bank card. However, the percentage of people paying for their orders with PayPal also began to grow.
